Twin Horror

Our good pals Eskimo Twins have been catching the ears of a fair few tastemakers with their productions lately. Include Fake Blood, Boys Noize, plus Radios 1’s Zane Lowe, Kissy Sellout and Annie Mac in that list and you can see why people are starting to stand-up and take notice of the pair.

Now ahead of the chills and darkness of winter, Eskimo Twins release their Wax:On Music debut, the ‘Horror EP’. A frighteningly stylish duo of mutant variants where the glitchy acid-drenched techno in ‘Horror’ supports French sounding arpeggios and voice-box vocals, and the analogue 808 noodlings, Moog grumblings and sci-fi squeakings glare menacingly at the optimistic vintage piano house riffs of ‘Peck’.

Harry Benson December Chart

This month I've been expanding my usual sets a little bit, playing more deep house and chilled out tracks, as shown from the amazing Joy Orbison remix of Love Cry. Special mention goes to the Renaissance Man edit of You Got The Love, an absolutely blinding edit already built on a fantastic remix.

I've also introduced the first of my own tracks under a new moniker Harrison, which I'll be creating more house and techno tracks under. tThis time collaborating with magicbag's very own Youandewan, a fantastic producer and all round nice guy.

1. &ME - On [Frontroom Recordings]
2. Youandewan, Harrison - Untitled [CDR]
3. Florence & The Machine - You Got The Love (The XX Remix - Renaissance Man Edit) [CDR]
4. Butch - Disco Shhh [Bangbang!]
5. Harry Benson - Desperado [Get Flavor]
6. Four Tet - Love Cry (Joy Orbinson Remix) [Domino]
7. Salvatore Freda - Tiramisu (DJ Madskillz Remix) [Area Remote]
8. Art of Tones feat. JAW - Call The Shots (Llorca Naive Dub) [2020 Vision]
9. Worthy - Eight Yay Eight [Anabatic]
10. Ramon Tapia - Sunka Sanka (Coyu & Edu Imbernon Remix) [Great Stuff]

A Fond Farewell.

Dear Friends.

Its time for us here at Kill The Rhythm to part ways with Nation Of Shopkeepers, as of today.

6 Months down the line and we feel there's not much more we can do. We've given you the best DJ's from around the world for free in the smallest venue imaginable, as well as the best up and coming talent, every Friday night without fail. 6 Months of partying, drinking, good music, dancing. Even some empty promises & backstabbing. This isn't goodbye, just a little break while we catch our breath.

A BIG BIG BIG thankyou to Broady, Harry, Bruce, the 580 Family, Casper C, Skull Juice, Stopmakingme, Mumdance, In Flagranti, Renaissance Man, Hostage, A1 Bassline for never turning up, Jo Kira, Heppy J, Felix Cartal, Haus, Not Quite Tom, Gatto Viola, Jera, Digital Future, Distinction, Skips, In Flagranti, Polaroid Soundsystem, Raised by Wolves, Joe and Will Ask?, Run Hide Survive, Grum, Ocelot, 16Bit, Delphic, That hot girl who came every week and I never knew her name, Tom the sound guy, the people who stole the DJs riders every week, and every useless agent we've had to work with, and many many more I forgot to mention.

We'll see you soon,
Lee x

You've Got The Love

image: yimmy yayo

I've got nothing else to do this evening. All the remixes I have to do are finished, I've eaten my own weight in food, and I've drank all the cups of tea I think I can handle for one day. So, I thought I'd post up some music from my favourite band at the moment - The XX.

If you haven't heard about them before (which you probably have, as no one will shut up about them), they are just an awe-inspiring band. I can't even exactly put into words why I like them so much. They are even better than that scene in Rocky IV where the Robot comes in and says "Happy Birthday Paulie".

Their self-titled album is out now, so go buy it.

Pros and Cons

September 25th is nearly upon us now, with that date comes many many students to Leeds, which is a blessing for KTR but also the bane of my life for selfish reasons such as it taking me longer to get served in Ainsleys on my lunch break. But I can't really complain, as aside from messing about in queues and being indecisive it also lets us get the Autumn partys started at Kill The Rhythm. If you don't know by now, we've got the lovely Dan Avery aka Stopmakingme from London for our Freshers Party, which is pretty much guaranteed to kick off. Obviously FREE entry 'cos thats how we roll over here.

Stopmakingme has a recent mix up on Soundcloud for your aural delights and an excellent mix it is too, i'm listening to it right now, thats how good it is. Excellent cosmic / disco / indie / techno / vibes. Here's a link to the page if you fancy checking it out:

P.s. For a bit of comic relief here's a classic video of a Dog trying to scuttle a young gamer.
