Zombielicious

We all remember that time in our lives - being 12 years old dancing around in your bedroom to 'Kernkraft 400'. Well, 10 years on and Zombie Nation is still at it. Far from his riff-heavy '99 release (and lets face it, one of the best melodies in history) is his new full length offering "Zombielicious". Full of grinding Techno basses, Disco rhythms and organic cut-up samples, every track is different from each other, but all equally as good. Many thanks to ZN for letting us share this track with you.

"Zombielicious" is out now, and available from Beatport, iTunes etc.

Nonsense In The Dark

The album starts off with the single we've all heard, This Rhythm, the pulsating beats and vocals of Late of the Pier's Samuel Duest make for a great track and a good solid start to the album. Elevator follows with its jumpy beats but subdued vocals, followed by my personal favourite of the album, What Happens Next which includes stabbing chords and a catchy chorus. You Better Stop feels reminisent of a recent Chemical Brothers track in places and feels as though it lacks something without any vocals to accompany the melodies. Messages is a perfectly crafted ode to 80's electro pop, contrasting with the second single from the album Tupac Robot Club Rock featuring Plastic Little rapping over the top, some interesting melodies and fantastic live drumming. Nonsense in the Dark feels like as if the Maccabees met an electronic version of the Cure, while Cul De Sac (one of the most boring tracks on the album) slowly plods along until we get to Light Skips Across Heart, which is a dark brooding turned electro pop tune. The rest of the tracks slowly pass by until we get to the final track, Somewhere At Sea, which is one my personal highlights, an electronic ballad which perfectly ends the album.

All in all, a pretty solid debut from the Kill Em All boys, it'll be interesting to catch their live show sometime soon, and definitely check out the album and see what you think.

Who can ignore a name like AC Slater? Named by both XLR8R Magazine and Beatport as one of the artists to watch in 2009, his tracks have been finding their way onto radio playlists on stations like Radio 1 and Kiss 100, and into the hands of Sinden, Moby, Crookers and Drop the Lime. "Rock It Out" is the follow up to the club smash "Jack Got Jacked" EP released in fall 2008. The EP comes loaded with 4 massive tunes with 2 major remixes, so go grab a copy. Get down!

Hello, We Are... The Good Guys

The Good Guys, aka Cell D and Xtrapurified, hail from Serbia. They defy every genre with the music they create, gaining praise from artists such as Danger, DatA and Symbol One along the way. "One day we just pick a 70's disco tune to sample and remix, the other day we distort the hell out of silly folk trash from the 90's". Definiately a name to watch in 2009.

Busy P vs. So Me - Nike Air Force 1

"Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong campaign digs into Nike’s archives to resurrect some of their more sought after releases of all time for their “Stages” event that took place last night at Nike’s Montalbán Theater. Along with various other artistic pieces, several kicks were done up in the signature Livestrong black/yellow motif. Futura’s FLOM Dunk High, Mr. Cartoon’s Air Force 1 and Busy P/So Me’s Air Force 1 interpretation were amongst the standout pieces. Although they were made for charity, wouldn’t we all want to get our hands on at least one pair."

The Big Freeze

Apparently the Winter still hasn't left us, even though its officially spring. Even more snow to come this week, which to me is a good thing! Bring on the summer Techno.

Tonka - Freeze

How Do?

Back blogging again after a million light years away, its been too long. Expect bigness.

Heres a nice warm bit of spacy techno from a few of the current masters of this stuff, Bodzin and Romboy. Originally the B-side to Ferdinand but definitely the standout track. Good to have on very loud whilst destrying the Helghast on Killzone 2.

Stefan Bodzin & Marc Romboy - Phobos

Heads Up Returns

Heads Up! return on Friday 13th with one hell of a stacked lineup. It all takes place at their new home at the O2 Academy in Leeds, so you know its going to be big!

Back in Black

KILL THE RHYTHM returns on Thursday 2nd April at our new home REHAB (formely Native State) in Harrogate, and then we do it all again on the 1st Thursday of Every month after that. Whats even better is, its FREE!

Every month, resident DJs 'Youth Attack!' will be playing everything from Electro and Disco, to Bassline and Dubstep. Along with special guest DJ sets from some of the best DJs and Producers from around the UK.

"Youth Attack themselves are gaining rapid notoriety for their increasing array of brilliant remixes for the likes of Late Of The Pier, Shadow Dancer, The Human League, Foals and The Ting Tings. Couple this with their devastating DJ sets seen across the UK from Leeds to London and it seems hard to disagree that Youth Attack are going to take the country by storm in 2009."
